About Diesel

Rottweiler
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Hello people out there. I gotta tell it like it is cuz I am sick and tired of waiting for someone to adopt me. And, don't you dare scroll to the next dog until you hear me out! My name is Diesel. I'm an 8-year old male Rottweiler. My current residence is Pope Memorial Humane Society in Manchester, MA. I appreciate the humans here, especially my gal pal Jen who is my biggest fan, but I need a real home. I know she'll miss our snuggle sessions (she's kinda needy), but it's time to move on. Anyway, I've been in the shelter for a couple years I think. (I've lost track.) The other kids come and go, come and go, but what about me? For Dog's sake there's gotta be someone who sees me for what I am - a gifted, loving, smart, comedic, and handsome glob of wonderfulness. I may not be humble, but I am honest. A year ago I was in a bad place. I had Lyme Disease. Twice. It made me feel lousy and achy, especially my back legs. It was during this time I met people but whenever they touched me a certain way, I did not appreciate it. I'm embarrassed to say I bit some of them. I'm better now and for the past year I've had a perfect record for good behavior. Boolya! However, I still need your respect for my sore hips, which is not rocket science, people! I have two claims to fame. Number 1: I'm the laziest of lazy dogs. I'm not ashamed to be a couch potato. I just like to sleep all day, and night. Number 2: Water is his absolute favorite'|swimming, bathing, wading - anything that involves water makes me the happiest boy ever. H2O is where the magic happens! I am housetrained, neutered, non-destructive, and UTD on shots. The bigger the stuffed toy, the happier me and my stubby tail get. Indoors, I walk by the other animals and they walk by me all the time. I don't pay them any attention. Everything here is super structured so I don't know how I'd be in the real world if I lived with dogs or cats. So, let's keep it just me as your only fur-kid. Note from his advocates: Diesel has mild residual effects from two bouts of Lyme Disease. He has some muscular discomfort and x-rays show mild arthritis. We believe pain was the cause of a few biting incidents. Each case happened when his hips/legs were touched or moved. He's had no issues with the staff who work with him and they will show you how to handle that part of his body. Diesel needs a special person or couple with large breed experience working with dogs with a behavioral history. Diesel will need multiple visits with his adopter before being taken home. Requirements: Single family house (no apartments please), no kids, no other pets. If you have questions you can call the shelter office at 603.628.3544.
