About Jax

Border Collie / Lab
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Jax is approx 55lbs and microchipped. His front left leg was amputated after an injury in Aug 2021. He acclimated quickly and despite being a tri-pod, he is active and playful. He has a calm but happy and active disposition. Jax is very sweet, gentle and loves companionship of both people and other nice dogs. Cat companions are not recommended. We have observed Jax close to young children and he is calm and friendly. We assume he would be ok with respectful children however we have NOT observed him 'heavily' interacting or playing with children. Jax is very intelligent and picks up on rules and tricks fast! He loves fetch, tug toys or lounging around with family. We would really like him to have a compatible dog companion. He enjoys short walks within limits of his physical ability. He knows sit/stay and 'manners' waiting patiently for food. He is not overly excited, possessive, pushy with food or toys- no snapping when getting treats. He is fairly quiet but barks at appropriate times. He does love to sing along with sirens then stops when the siren stops. Jax is currently being treated for heartworm (slow kill) and prognosis is good. A new owner will have to continue treatment; low cost options can be discussed with the rescue. Also, as of this writing, he is scheduled for neutering end of Nov. He does not show behavior of trying to dig or push out of enclosed areas. A new home should have a fenced yard. Jax should be with people who enjoy daily interaction with their dog and regard him a true member of the family. He would be good with a single owner, couple or family with considerate children. Although very patient, he would not be happy left alone frequently for long periods of time. Standard work hours would be ok. To ensure Jax is going to the best and mutually agreeable home, we want to get to know potential adopters and possibly view his potential new home. Additional photos and video are available.
