About Lucy

Lucy Lucy is a 2 1/2 year-old 40 pound red, brown and white Heeler (she has a white heeler heart mark on her red forehead, hence the name Lucy), Aussie, and Border Collie mix. Her fur is quite long with a big red patch on her rump and her head, and a beautiful white tail. She gets very hot in the summer and has very little hair on her face ears and legs. She sheds terrifically in May and October. We have given her a short cut in the summer and she is dazzling and looks much more like a cattle dog than her winter look of an Australian Shepherd. She is current and has had consistent veterinary visits, vaccinations, etc. including canine influenza She has also had rattle snake avoidance training. She spent the first year of her life in a kennel with her mother with limited attention and training. She loves people, craves attention, and is a funny frolicy little lady. She plays all by herself and throws toys up and then jumps on them. She is very vocal when she plays and makes the most amusing noises. She does bark occasionally especially at other dogs. She likes traveling in a car, likes her stick her head out the window if she can, and likes to just take a nap. She has an amazing sense of sight as well as a terrific sense of smell. She detects things long before our other dog ever even knows they are there. She chases any small animals and insects (squirrels, cats, lizards, gophers, flies) that flee from her. When she was fostered for a time, however, she played with a cat. She is extremely intelligent, loves to play, is fast as a bullet, and eager to please. She walks well on a lead, knows basic commands, and loves treats snd beef marrow bones. She needs quite a bit of socialization as well as mental and physical exercise.
