About Miss Mamie - On Hold

Miss Mamie is simply a miracle girl. Mamie was picked up by a good samaritan from a gas station where she'd been wandering for at least a week with an open wound on her stomach. This girl was a mess but she was a loving thing with determination to survive. So... we did what we needed to get her cared for. Mamie had a hernia, horrible teeth, and some breast tumors which were contained and show no hint of having spread. This little girl is simply the sweetest thing and watching her do her thing is fun! She can hold her own against the largest of dogs and we've actually seen her herd large dogs in her foster home! She even made a Mastiff jump when it approached her kennel at a fall festival. However, if she is simply hanging out with dogs, big and small, she is fine. Mamie would do best in a home where there are no young children. She doesn't like the chaos they bring. She truly wants to just be a sentinel on a comfy spot on a couch, chair, lap, you name it. And she will entertain when she gets excited and jumps around. All potential adopters are expected to complete an application and provide pictures of their yard, patio, and/or balcony making sure we can see the fence line and/or railing. Applications will be reviewed for approval before setting an appointment to come meet and possibly adopt the dog of interest. In addition, those who live in a rental property are expected to provide proof that they are allowed to have a dog where they live. Each of our rescued dogs has been de-wormed if necessary, de-flea'd (with topical treatment if old enough, and by medicated bath if too young), spayed/neutered, microchipped, is up to date on shots, and has been fully examined by a veterinarian. In addition, each adopted dog comes with a starter baggie of the food it has been eating, a few treats for training purposes, a rawhide chew, a lead and collar, and a folder containing pertinent records.
