About Chase

Meet Chase! Can we do everything together? I LOVE spending time with my people. I am looking for my forever best friend! My personality is the epitome of what it means to be a Heeler. I want to be around my person and always touching them when we are together. I love to chew bones, learn new things, go on sniff-ari's and get exercise. Once we are comfortable with each other, I also enjoy cuddling. I am afraid of new experiences, but I am brave. As long as I can smell around, I will warm up to the new person, place, or thing. I constantly check in and read the social cues given by people and other animals. I'd do best in a home with children 13 years and older. Please no apartments for me, I bark a bit and I may get in trouble in an apartment! General Socialization Notes: I have lived with other dogs and children. I do fine with most dogs particularly when I am off leash. I'm not confrontational and if I can take my space, I do my best to steer clear of scuffles between dogs. Sometimes I have some on leash aggression, especially when I haven't hung out with other dogs recently or if they bark at me first. When I am uncomfortable with another dog, I will warn them with a low growl.Typically, I warm up quickly after my warning. I have not had any accidents inside. I am fully potty trained. I grew up as a yard dog for the first 4 years of my life before I moved into a house with my current family. I have never used a crate. My most recent situation is living with 2 adults and 2 kids under 3. I get nervous and anxious around small children and anyone who is grabby. I prefer people who approach me under the chin, not making direct eye contact, who have a casual relaxed manner. When I am ready to give you kisses and cuddle, you will know it! Even though I am OK with babies, I can get snappy with them. I growl and give warnings often when a situation does not suite me. Does Stark like other pets? I have lived with other dogs when other people come stay at my house to take care of me. I also grew up with my brother in a yard before my bro ran away. Now I live alone with my family in a house with a yard. I attack cats. I could potentially be trained to be OK with cats, but it will take some work. I have also lived around chickens in my first home. Again, this is a training opportunity. I love humping and chasing other big hairy male dogs and this is a good way for me to explore playing with other dogs - as I didn't really get to do that a lot with any other dogs than my brother when I was a puppy. Does Stark like children? I get nervous around kids, especially when they are close to eye level with me. They make me uncomfortable and I can get snappy with them. Outside of the home I have not enjoyed watching kids run around. They make me nervous. I'd do best in a home with children 13 years and older. Favorite Toys: I'm not really into toys, though I can be trained to be because I am so dang smart. I was taught to fetch even though it's not really my style. I love frozen peanut butter bones and kongs. I can also learn how to play with other toys that involve food. Ideal Forever Home: A home with confident, calm, yet active people would be wonderful! Please no apartments for me! I am a Heeler and I have the energy to back it up! I want to use my intelligence and need exercise daily. I love running, walking, sniffing, and training sessions. I would love it if you allow me to go on all kinds of adventures with you. I need someone with a lot of patience and someone willing to train with me! I would love a place that likes cuddles and constant interaction. I bond with my people quickly and would love to give you all my loyalty and companionship!
