Gnocchi is an approximately one-year-old, 30-lb blue heeler currently being fostered in North Port, FL. Gnocchi was a stray that took almost a month to catch. Since then, we have learned a few things about her. Gnocchi is incredibly shy at first, but she warms up quickly and can even be a bit of a Velcro dog. She can be very wary of strangers and will not let them come close or pet her. She walks well on the leash, with the exception of approaching strangers. Despite her wariness with strangers, she has been very friendly and gentle with children. She loves to play outside with sticks, balls and frisbees. Gnocchi is very smart and treat motivated, which means she can learn commands almost instantly. She would benefit from additional training to help with her confidence and social skills. She plays well with dogs her size, but can be very bold with dogs smaller than her. While Gnocchi loves all sorts of attention, she is not a fan of being held. And while she rides well in the car, she definitely doesn't like trips to the vet! We feel that Gnocchi would do best in a heeler savvy home with a person who knows and understands the breed. She also requires a home with a fenced-in backyard. Gnocchi is up to date on all vaccines, spayed and heartworm negative. She is crate trained and potty trained.
