About Mahina

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. 1. Would do best with a female adopter. 2. Will need to be the only dog in the home. 3. Children should be over 12 years of age. 5 year old, female Terrier/Lab, about 50 pounds. Mahina is a sweet and silly girl who's looking for an understanding female human companion. She has a lot of anxiety which makes her fearful of many things, especially men and new situations. She will need training to get over her leash pulling or just a nice fenced yard to get outside and run after the squirrels and birds. She gets very excited riding in the car, so does best in a crate. Mahina has been known to be reactive to some dogs and would need to be an only dog. She won't mind being an only child as long as she has a few hours to snuggle with her person. She is crate trained and would be just fine hanging out at home alone in her room while you're at work. She is good with kids, but would be best in a house with older children. Adoption contract and fee applies. COVID UPDATE: All adoptable dogs can be met privately with an appointment with their foster parents. Adoption events are on hold for the foreseeable future. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older. Puppies are adopted with a refundable spay/neuter deposit (in addition to the adoption fee) and adopters are required to get their puppy to our vet for their pre-scheduled spay/neuter appointments. If you live within a four-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, we will ask you to make an appointment to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
