About Muhammad Ali

Float like a butterfly.......string like a bee......please be my hero and come adopt me. Any boxing fans out there that remember the famous quote from Muhammed Ali? What a great fighter he was. Well......... meet his namesake and his brother ( Sugar Ray). Both of these boys were brought to a rural shelter with chemical burns down their backs. They were pulled by us and when they got to their foster home, we quickly learned they also had a pretty severe case of rickets and they were both extremely scared of people. They have been on a diet of wonderful enriched foods and are coming along great. The chemical burns down their backs will probably never grow hair, but the hair may cover their scars. They are continuing to fight and get better each He will take time to come around and be a true lover. He has come along way and still needs lots of love and patience and guidance. Muhammad loves l to play and would do great in a home with not only another playful dog but a fenced in yard. He is a little wary of new people at first, but will come around and eventually let his awesome personality shine. He has learned to play 'fetch' and will Roll over to get belly rubs. Because of his bashfulness and the fact that he is a puppy (but probably a border collie mix) he will do best in a home without very young children. He likes to play and would much rather be down in the ground playing them being held. He will need a very patient Adopter who will understand his needs and will expose him to things so he can get used to them. His brother has been adopted and now he is looking for that perfect family for him. He is learning to walk on a leash and doing fantastic. He takes multiple daily walks around his neighborhood and has been to the park. He has learned how do use the doggie doors in his foster home. Once he bonds with you, he wants to be wherever you are. He is doing fantastic with using the bathroom outside but will need continued work with that and a good solid routine to continue that. He is about four months old and weighs about 30 pounds. We do not know what breed his mom or dad was and can only guess at breed and size when full-grown. Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and are scheduling individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA area during the pandemic. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
