About Holt

Adoption Fee: $350
Australian Cattle Dog mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

HoHead has been remaned Holt! When Holt was brought in to the shelter, he had a deep wound across the top of his head. Someone mentioned it looked like he had been hit with a gardening hoe, and that's how he got that name. The wound was infected and pretty gnarly, which in turn made poor Holt grumpy the first couple days. After seeing the vet and having his wound cleaned and stapled, we really started seeing his personality. He is actually a very happy, energetic guy! Holt is currently with a foster in Jaxksonville. The foster has had a medical emergency in the family and we need to find Holt another home. He is an eight year-old blue heeler although his current foster says she thinks he may be younger. He is about 45 pounds and on the smaller side. He likes to play fetch and also likes toys. Holt knows a few basic commands like sit and down. Like many heelers he can be vocal when there's something he wants! He loves his cot and blankets, and he's very treat motivated so learning new tricks would be easy for him! He walks wonderfully on a leash and is completely kennel trained. Holt doesn't seem to mind other dogs but he is reactive to cats. He is heartworm positive and has started antibiotics which he will need to be on for 30 days before finishing the rest of his treatment.
