About Rose

** Any dog roommate should be medium or large, high-energy and tolerant; a meet is required ** Any children in the home should be 12 years or older because Rose is very exuberant Rose is a high energy 3-year-old who would benefit from structure, exercise and training; she has a zest for life that is phenomenal and this girl just wants to have fun. She is originally from Texas and had an adoptive home for several months in Wisconsin where she was doing well and the family was thrilled with her. Unfortunately, the circumstances changed and they were forced to move to a place where they could not take her so she came back to WCHS in Singer, WI. Rose is not a full Kelpie because she weighs about 75 pounds but she is a Kelpie at heart and built like an athlete; she is independent and intense with a passion for keeping busy. She is searching for the right home with an owner who will be committed to being a calm, assertive leader who will allow her brilliance to shine through. Rose plays rough and can be pushy with canine pals. She would not be a candidate to play at a dog park because she does not like small dogs and would be too much for some bigger dogs. Her high prey drive makes her incompatible with cats. Rose needs manners training and can get a tad wild with handling because she thinks it is a game and gets jumpy and mouthy. She also has a bit of a foot fetish and makes a game of it by nipping at feet while out and about on a walk; squeaker toys make a reasonable distraction. Rose would do well if she had a job or two to keep both her mind and body busy, engaged and active. She might be phenomenal practicing agility, other canine sports or dog parkour; perhaps she could carry a backpack on a hike. She is very smart and a quick study; she already knows the cues for 'sit', 'lay down', 'shake' and 'high-5'. One bonus during training is that she accepts treats gently. Rose is alert, friendly and eager to please; she will be loyal to you forever and is very affectionate.
