I am Elisted because I am very frustrated and stressed, and as a result, I'm leaping and bounding off the kennel walls. I have been at the shelter since July and spent almost a month not getting out because of medical issues in my kennel area. That was hard on me, and I can no longer tolerate long periods of confinement! I am mentally breaking down and need to be OUT! It is inhumane to keep me in this condition�'�|Can you save my life? I am a 1-year-old, unaltered male, black and white American Pit Bull Terrier/Mix (wt. 36 lbs.). I was abandoned and tied up at the shelter entrance when found by a vet tech. On intake, I walked well on leash, was vaccinated and handled with no problems, and rolled over for belly rubs. I still have lots of puppy energy and get overly excited, jumping and mouthing handlers when I get a chance to get out. Can you blame me? Volunteers say that I'm friendly, enjoy attention, like to be petted and will lean in to get more. They also say I 'play well ', especially when playing fetch with balls and toys. I respond when told to 'sit' but have a hard time staying down. Due to the medical status of the shelter population, I haven't had a dog-dog assessment, so It's not known how I might interact with other dogs. That said, I haven't reacted to dogs passing by when I am in the play yard. If you are looking for fun, I may be your boy. But you will also need to be willing to teach me how to interact politely. I need to be out of the shelter ASAP and into a home where I can relax, decompress, and have a chance to run and play.
