Sly is a smaller than average Tom, making him an easy target for other neighborhood toms. He is the sole surviver of a feral litter because he was and is fast. My land has been treated with diatomaceous earth for his whole life, so he has never had fleas or other parasites. Since I tamed him early last spring he has accepted petting from any adult who was with me or had his brush in hand & called his name. I want to find him an indoor home for winter. I have 3 indoor cats who are 10 year old half Bengal siblings, large and territorial. Sly is very afraid of them, with good reason. He is also unwilling to use a warm shelter on my deck after a pack of dogs trapped him in it last winter. I don't think he's ever been within reach of a human child. He'll likely never be a lap cat, but if you're sitting calmly he is a fine and quietly talkative companion. He deserves better comfort than I can provide, and if you can assure him that comfort, I'll deliver him and write off the cost of it.
