Courtesy post for Daphne's owner Kimberly and shelter staff member Jen. 'Hello All! I am the Canine Coordinator at the Humane Society of Carroll County in Westminster, MD. We currently have a county resident reaching out for assistance in rehoming a dog that is in her care. The dog does have a heart condition that she takes medication for. The owner is hoping to get her in to a rescue vs. bringing her to the shelter, and hopefully a rescue familiar with dogs that have heart conditions. Hello, As follow up to our conversation on the phone recently , I'm sending this to you as a loving dog Mom that is in a bad situation and am looking for help. Daphne is an American Bully who just doesn't fit well anymore with the other dogs in my pack. She is now 17 months old (bd 5/13/20) and as she gets older and bigger she becomes to rough when she gets excited around my other dogs that are all smaller (all spayed females). For whatever reason, she is 100% submissive with my English Bulldog that is 5 years old and about 60 pounds. She enjoys playing and being a puppy so I don't feel that she needs to be an only dog, but definitely needs to be with dogs her own size or similar. She is very smart and will listen to your commands as we have had a professional trainer for her for 8 sessions She is crate trained and doesn't mind being in it at all. Note: she has not been crated longer than 4 hours at a time She loves Kongs stuffed with peanut butter or whatever you have handy and hard chew toys that are safe She is very good in the car, but is shy about getting in so you will have to help her up She LOVES the water and will splash around like a fish She has not been around children at all, but loves all people she has met so far She has never met a cat, but has been around my indoor rabbits and doesn't' seem phased, but because they are small, I keep them separated Because of the heart condition she was born with, she has not been spayed yet and it currently on 2 medications twice a day. My goal is to find the perfect home for her with a family that has experience with heart dogs. I have NEVER EVER rehomed one of my dogs in my life and this is extremely difficult for me. I would like your help with placing her with a rescue group that could offer a foster home first instead of her living at the shelter. I have attached a pictures of her for you to share with anyone you may know of that would be a good fit for adoption or foster. Sincerely, Kimberly'
