Hello! My name is Snoops (a.k.a. Snoopy-Doo), and I am one of the sweetest, cuddliest, loving dogs you'll ever meet! I'm a really good boy who just wants to be loved and be taken care of really well so I can have even more years to give out all this love and joy that I have left in me. I have been looking for a new home since October, and I only have about a month to find one now. Both of my humans will be living in places that don't allow dogs by then, so I'm really hoping that this post reaches just the right person at just the right time: someone who has the time and ability to walk and play with me, feed me, and care for me regularly, and to just be really good friends with. Maybe even to be part of a family. HISTORY: I was adopted by my current family in August 2016 from a nice lady I stayed with for a year. No one knows where I was before that. I was really anxious and nervous back then. Lots of things scared me or drove me crazy but it's so much better now. I've had some hard years in the past, and I'm so glad they're behind me. My current humans have shown me what it's like to be loved and truly part of a family. I only want more of the same, but it's time to try it with new humans. PERSONALITY: I love my people! All people, really. I love it when they pet me, or scratch my head and ears. I like to pet them back with my tongue but I know not everyone likes that, so I try to stop if they ask me to. Cuddling is one of my favorite things, especially if you have a nice soft blanket wrapped around you. If you let me, I'll even get under the blanket with you if you don't move around a lot. Playing is my next favorite thing: tug of war, hide and seek the toys, and chasing after the toys. I'll usually bring it back but I like having my humans chase me for them sometimes. And it's so fun when they get down on the floor with me to play. I also absolutely love opening presents! I mean, someone has to pull off the paper for me, but once they tell me it's mine, I just can't keep my nose away from it. Seems like every time I get a present there's always something fun to play with or good to eat in there. It's the best feeling! I've learned how to 'come,' 'sit,' 'stay,' or 'wait,' and 'bring/get the toy.' I get really sad when my people leave the house, but it helps when they pet me first and say good-bye. Sometimes they even take me with them, and holy cow is the car the best thing ever! I could ride in the car all day long, and road trips are just awesome. COHABITATION: I just love all people. The little humans are kind of loud sometimes, but if they bother me too much I just go find a quiet place to hang out and recharge. I've had a couple of dog roommates before, and I actually really like them as long as I can be left alone when I want. People call me 'slow to warm up,' but I just have to make sure the other dogs won't hurt me first. I bark at them on walks sometimes still, but I'm getting better and even made a couple fur friends in the neighborhood. Trust is a big thing, and it takes me a minute. I can tolerate cats, but sometimes they don't like when I try to get a better sniff of them. MEDICAL: Overall, the doc gives me a clean bill of health. I have no heart problems or major medical issues. My liver enzymes get a bit elevated sometimes, but that's it. I bet my humans can give you all my vet records if you ask. I used to have really bad teeth problems, but an angel stepped in and helped with the dental bills. I actually don't have any teeth left now. I eat softened food, a special weight control kind. My owners just put some warm water in and wait a bit to give it to me. I also have small lipomas here and there, and a bigger one on my chest, but the vet said they're harmless. I make a lot of noise when I get excited, and it can sound like I'm growling, but I'm not. My trachea is too narrow, and makes it harder for me to breathe then, but it can sound scary to other dogs or humans who don't know me. WHY I'M LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME: My owner is 19 and has a job with inconsistent and sometimes really long hours. He has a really lot going on and often doesn't have the time or head space to give me all the walks, playtime, and personal care (teeth brushing and baths and stuff) that I need. His dad, my other human, takes care of me when he can't, but I know his bone and joint problems make it hard for him to go up and down the stairs where we live or get down low to play or bathe me when I need it. I don't want to find a new home, and I know they really want me to stay, but I know there's a home better suited for what I need. Like I mentioned earlier, I've been looking for a new home since October due to these reasons, but I haven't found one yet. Now, though, both of my humans will be living in places that don't allow dogs in less than a month so I have to really find someone quickly. Could it be you?
