PLEASE READ BIO BEFORE CONTACTING RESCUE. PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS AT THE END. Send a regular email to: [email protected]. Provide the information requested at the end of this Bio. SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! Billie and Rex are a bonded pair. The owner passed away. Billie was deemed to be age of 4 and Rex age 3. We DNA test all dogs, and Billie is a Maltese/Yorkshire Terrier Mix, and Rex is a pure-bred Chihuahua. Billie weighs about 14 lbs. and Rex about 12 lbs. Rex tends to rely on Billie for his security. Billie needs only the occasion professional grooming, for a trim and to avoid getting matted, and Rex only requires the occasional bath. Both dogs are loving and sweet and doting on their people. They have lived peacefully around many dogs, both large and small. The dogs are super affectionate. They can follow you around, and like to be near you in the same room you are in. They enjoy laying near you, cuddling, flipping on their backs, and occasionally tapping your hand with their paw. They are also sometimes independent in that they occasionally go into crates and just chill. I find them both to be very easy dogs, just laying on a pet bed near me when I work on the computer. I suffer from a health condition, and need to lie down a lot, and they are allowed to relax on the bed with me, during the day (at night they sleep in crates) and snuggle. I am looking for a similar home for them with people enjoy their dogs being loving, and will allow them to live somewhat true to their natures. Both dogs are quite different when it comes to personalities. Billie has evolved to become more social, and Rex is more introverted and cautious. Though Billie's instincts are to be 'protective,' as soon as you tell her 'No, these are my friends!,' in a matter of minutes, she will practically be in that person's lap. Rex, on the other hand, is a typical pure-bred Chihuahua who are usually just about THEIR OWN people, but he warms up very quickly once he gets to know you! Rex does not show that well in a meet and greet, but as an honest rescuer, I can assure you of how he will be once in your home. This was already tested when Billie and Rex went to live in the home of one of my foster moms. Within a day, Rex was all over her! The foster mom would take both dogs for little walks in the community, and they both did well! Both dogs are potty-trained and crate-trained. They are both STELLAR in crates. As with most rescue dogs, there will be few potty accidents in a new home, but adopters should practice a structured routine, and not a 'free for all.' Here at the rescue, Billie and Rex are crated if I have to leave, for their meals, and when it is time to sleep. The best home for this pair is a quiet one with adults where there is structure and guidance but with people who do not mind dogs who love you as if the sun rises and sets ON YOU. The adult only thing SHOULD NOT be interpreted as 'aggressive to kids' merely some dogs are just not the types that kids will relish in nor will the dogs relish in kids. Rex is a bit scared initially and will not warm to strangers, at first, or anything too loud or crazy in a new home. But he warms very quickly and will attach to 'his people' and once he does, he is all about THE LOVE. And Billie is always the consummate charmer. The criteria for adopting both Billie and Rex are as follows: a) Be willing to adopt the pair. b) Adult only home - will consider teenagers. c) Be an age whereby you can commit to the dogs for the rest of their lives without the dogs having to be rehomed. They have already lost one home. d) MUST HAVE recent dog experience - no first-time dog owners or first-time dog families. e) Be willing to groom Billie very occasionally professionally. f) Willing to get a yearly vet check. g) Willing to follow rescuer's advice on a smooth transition to ensure a wonderful adoption experience! NOTE: We only adopt dogs as primarily INDOOR dogs. Dogs can go outside to play, potty, to sun themselves at will, but should never be excluded to an outside area. You do not need to give a dog the run of the entire house, and an appropriately sized wire crate works very well during a transitional phase. Billie and Rex are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in this pair, email Angel's Heart Dog Rescue at: [email protected].
