About Freddie Mercury

Freddie, the Corgi/Rat Terrier mix is available for adoption! Freddie is currently in foster in Houston TX. He came into rescue a few months ago as a very fearful and shy boy but has come such a long way in a matter of a few weeks. It's been so rewarding watching this sweet boy come out of his shell and learn to 'dog'. He's discovered he likes pets, loves food and keeping watch on his humans when not stealing He has all of his vaccines, microchip, is neutered and currently weighs 23 lbs. He has undergone treatment for heartworm infection and did great! He will just have to continue his monthly heartworm prevention (Rescue will provide) and be tested in April 2022. At that time, he will likely receive a negative test. Freddie is good with other dogs but doesn't really play with his foster furbrother at this time. He does love to be near Bosco and will clean brother's bowl after meal times. Freddie is terrified of cats and will run from them. He also doesn't care for sudden movements so no children under 12 please. Freddie is house trained and loves his crate. He goes outside to do his business and will come back inside right away although lately has he decided he likes to sun himself for a few minutes before coming into the house. This sweet boy loves to go for walks but he has his own leisurely pace. After his injections, we had to limit his activity and he really missed his twice daily walks. He used to get very scared when he would see another dog on one of his walks but now he has learned they pose no danger and ignores them. Freddie isn't a cuddly dog but he is very loyal and loves to place himself in a location where he can keep an eye on his humans at all times. He has began to approach his foster family for pets on the head and wags his whole body when his humans get home from being out! He's fine home alone while the humans are away for a few hours but ideally we would love for him to go to a home where his humans work from home or are retired.
