About Prince (6 mo 6 lb)

But really his nickname Monkey fits him much better as he's been trying to climb the puppy pen we had leaning up against my desk. Then one afternoon he just climbed it like a ladder! Clearly he's at risk of being a fence climber. --- This adorable little pooch is approximately 6 months old and only weighs 6 lb! We have no idea who his parents were. His body is like a Chihuahua but he's got the look of a scruffy terrier. Since Cairn terriers also come in black, we're guessing he may be a Chihuahua/Cairn mix. If the age estimate is accurate, we can't imagine he'd top out at much bigger than 10 lb. --- Yes, he is a chewer as most puppies are! --- Prince came into rescue after being surrendered to our vet because he got parvovirus and his former family couldn't afford to treat him. He survived and is now thriving. Could stand to gain a bit more weight but he's so playful we're having trouble getting the calories to keep up with what his body weight should be. Fortunately he does have quite the appetite so we're supplementing with extra meals and treats in between his morning and evening meals. --- Prince is just a delightful little pooch who loves to play with other dogs and is rather interested in our cat (who is not a fan). Due to his tiny size, this little Monkey needs to live with adults or teenagers. He's too fragile for young children. --- Prince is doing well on crate training and pottying outside when we go out there with him. So far he's not considered housebroken as he does not know how to tell you when he needs to go out, so he'll need more housebreaking training. --- Best match is someone who has another small, playful dog and leash walks for potty breaks. His size makes him suitable for condo/townhome living but he can be noisy when playing so you'd better have thick walls if you live in that environment so he's not bothering the neighbors when he's being vocal. --- Given his adorableness, we're expecting to be inundated with applications and so will only be responding to those we feel are best matched to his needs.
