About Chipper

**PLEASE READ CHIPPER'S BIO THOROUGHLY BEFORE INQUIRING-THANK YOU** This is Chipper and he is our very handsome 4yr old Tibetan Terrier mix. who is about 16lbs. Please note that he doesn't show well and we need to do his process slower. When meeting new people, Chipper is very guarded and will growl and show teeth. We see that he needs to come to you on his terms and it can't be rushed. Once he feels safe and loved, he is all about the hugs and kisses. Due to this issue, he cannot go into a home with a lot of friends coming over, etc and when his new owner does have new people come, they need to know that he will do the barking each time and they need to let people coming over know to not get in his face and basically ignore him till he feels comfortable. We want Chipper in an adult only home that is dog savvy and can continue working with him. He needs very patient and loving dog owners who will give him the time he needs to acclimate. Chipper cannot be an only dog in the home and right now we are looking to place him with his best friend, Max, a 2 yr old Terrier/Maltese mix. These two are very bonded and it will make the transition of going into a new home much easier. We definitely want him in a home with a safe and secure yard. He would not do well in an apt or condo. He is a bit leash aggressive and needs work with that. We DO NOT want him in a home that will crate him. Chipper must have a home where the owners allow pets on the furniture as he absolutely loves being next to his owner. Another thing to note is that he does not do well at the groomer and these type of dogs need grooming every 8 weeks. He cannot go to just any groomer as he gets very snarly with them. Chipper is a dog that probably didn't get much socialization from his prior owner, but we see the potential in him as he is now in a foster home that has a large family with grown boys and other dogs, so he can adjust, he just needs time. Potential adopters who meet him, need to know that this will take a few meet/greets before we can decide if it can work. Please note he is in Torrance, so if you are far away, if might not work as we will be having you meet him out here a few times. He is such a sweet and loving boy once he feels safe and secure, and we know he will make one awesome addition to the right family! Chipper is neutered, vaccinate and microchipped. We only adopt in Los Angeles and surrounding areas as an in person home check and trial period are required.
