About Balto

Meet Balto!! Super soft, sweet and cuddly does not even begin to describe just how awesome Balto is! Balto is a 4 1/2 year old Pomeranian mix. He weighs in at about 10 pounds and has a beautiful cream color coat with white and gray. He is non-shedding. Balto had a bit of a rough start in life. His previous family found him, as a puppy, all alone, underneath the car in their driveway. At the time he was only a couple of months old. They took him in and made him part of their family so he really lucked out being found in the nick of time. This family took great care of him! But a recent divorce left the Dad with 4 dogs and the kids when Mom left and he felt overwhelmed to take care of everyone and his business so he decided to let go of Balto and another dog named Bailey (who is also available for adoption). They are available separately or together as they like each other alot and will cuddle together but also do things separately. In his foster home he not only gets along great with everyone but he is a non-barker. He is one of those dogs that REALLY like to be with his human and will happily sit on your lap every time it is available. Having never been allowed to snuggle in bed he loves to do that at night! When going for walks he is great on a leash and is non-reactive to other dogs. He is also the kind of dog that when he finally settles into his forever home he will walk right next to you without a leash. He would do great in many living situations but especially a home where he can claim a lap and a spot right next to you on the bed! Her adoption fee includes the following: 1. His neuter 2. Current vaccinations including rabies 3. Microchip 4. Grooming 5. Harness and leash 6. Starter food An adoption fee does apply. As we prescreen via email ONLY (we do NOT make or receive phone calls in the pre-screening phase) please tell us a bit about you such as: 1. Your lifestyle, activity level and work schedule. 2. Area you live in and if it is a house or apartment. (Please indicate city) 3. How many adults, children and pets in the household. 4. Where your pet stays when you are out or at work. 5. Where your pet will sleep. 6. Dog breed experience 7. Have you ever had to give up a pet 8. If you do not currently have a pet how you will keep Balto socialized with other dogs Some notes to consider before applying for Bailey 1..Balto is a very affectionate dog and would really need someone he can spend alot of time with. 2. Please make sure you are ready to adopt before coming to see our adoptable dogs. We are a foster based rescue and do not have the space to hold dogs for a couple of weeks while you vacation or make your way to California to come and adopt. We will adopt out of state but ONLY if the potential adopter comes here to adopt in person and that is after a screening by Skype. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS EVER. 3. We are often inundated with emails about our adoptable dogs and try as we might to make everyone happy it is nearly impossible with only one dog and sometimes up to 50 potential families. The more information you provide in your email to us the quicker we will get back to you. If you have written to us before about a particular dog and did not receive a response please do try again. We try to answer every email but it is not always possible. Every dog has different home requirements that we search for so sometimes you are the right fit for the dog we are trying to place. 4. PLEASE do NOT send more than one email. It slows down the process. 5. We do not make appointments for people to just come 'see' the dogs available. They are in private foster homes and we go through a pre-screening process before any appointments are made. Thank you for choosing to adopt!
