About Birdie

Birdie is a young bully mix breed dog. She was found as a stray, and by her temperament and manners seems like she may have been someone's backyard kennel or chain dog. We are currently fostering her but her situation is not ideal, as I have to keep her separate from our dogs (simply because I have a toddler and fear that he would be in the middle of all the dogs and they would scuffle and he would be hurt. She hasn't necessarily shown aggression issues with the dogs, but I can tell she doesn't know how to play or act around other dogs. I just don't have the time to work with her.) We live on a farm and she has a high prey drive to things smaller than her, so I don't recommend her to be unsupervised around free range livestock or around cats. She is SUPER sweet and very eager to please. I think we may be the first people to ever be nice to her. She's very outgoing with me (female), but somewhat subdued around my boyfriend. She does well with my toddler. She needs training for manners, because she does seem attention the only way she knows how - jumping, pawing you, and sometimes mouthing you. I think these are all very typical untrained bully breed traits. Like I said she is super eager to please though and just wants your attention and company so I don't think she would be hard to train at all. Currently she is safe, but as we have the farm and our own dogs, I wasnt really prepared to bring on a foster dog and I don't have time to introduce and supervise her with all of our animals, so I play musical dogs with her and my dogs, to put them outside separately, and she stays outside in a big chicken coop during the day. She's a sweet girl and she deserves an inside home with her own family.
