About Smokey

Smokey is a rescue I picked up last year in Boise Idaho, the folks I got him from were going through a nasty divorce and Smokey needed a new home so as I was driving through I stopped and met smokey and his family which included a small male fixed schnauzer but no children. He showed no sign of aggression at that time. He was very good and loved the car ride to North Eastern Washington where I live. As we got to know each other he became inseperable from me and followed me everywhere...even the bathroom Im a 63 yr old female and hes a big 80 lb. Boy. He started getting very protective over me and started showing aggression to anyone around me. He has bitten 2 people who entered my fenced yard even with beware signs. They were not puncture wounds more like pinch bites. He was also very food aggressive so I found out, however, I've been working very hard with him. He will sit and wait for food with those commands. He knows down, stay, and bed, which means crate. Housebroke and crate trained. I have worked with him on the people aggression and he's learning, he would not do well around children, as I know he would take food from them and or jump on them. He is a food..treat driven dog. He does not like other large male dogs and will fight. I think that could be worked with once hes neutered. He is otherwise a big loveable baby and a funny boy. He is a blue with light brindle. He needs a strong person who can handle him and not be afraid to command him and his behaviors. In fact, he likes to be controlled, but can be stubborn at times. As I said, im 63 and 135 lbs and he's just to much for me, its hard on me to hold him back hes very strong. I need to rehome him as soon as possible because grand daughter is coming to stay with me and she has children. I don't trust him with children.
