About Rango

Adoption Fee: $225
Lab
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Rango is a fun little fella that is a great mix of playfulness and cuddles. He is super quiet in his crate and about as perfect as they come when it comes to spending time in one. Sweet Rango came to his foster quite timid and liked to hide under blankets and dog beds. He had spent nearly half his life at a county shelter fighting for his life. He didn't get a lot of socialization as he battled an auto-immune issue we believed to be Puppy Strangles that caused itchiness and scabs that covered his little body. Thankfully, with the use of steroids, a much less stressful environment, and a ton of love, his little body appears to be healing and his hair is growing back! Rango takes a little while to warm up to new people but absolutely loves kids and the people he trusts. He has never shown the slightest bit of aggression, just comes off as shy and needing time to adjust. He also loves to play with other dogs but just freezes and hopes the other dog won't bother him if they are overly friendly at first sight or have too much energy for his liking. Low Key Rango is six months old and we believe him to be a flat coat retriever mix that is currently 26 pounds, and will be a medium sized dog once fully grown. Because we are still weaning him off of Steroids, he does drink a lot so he potties a lot. Even though housetraining has been going well... he still has the occasional accident. At least he wears a belly band diaper like a champ and doesn't complain. Rango is a happy boy that loves emptying the toy box, chewing on BeneBones, and running after squeaky toys. He is great at sharing with other dogs and waits his turn when lining up to get a treat. More than anything, he just wants to lay his head in your lap and tell you thank you for being his person. You may apply to adopt Rango at www.pawpatroldayton.com. His adoption fee is $225 and he is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. We are still unaware at this time how he will do off of the steroids and if the auto-immune will flare up again or not. Even though he appears to be in the clear at this time, we can only hope that he will outgrow this issue, but can make no guarantees.
