About TARYN

Adoption Fee: $550
Australian Cattle Dog / Catahoula
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Female

All of our available animals are located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. Once approved families are invited to schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and hopefully take home their new forever best friend. TARYN is spayed, core vaccines, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and microchipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 21 June 2021. Her mother is KEELY a Catahoula Leopard Dog. TARYN will need her Rabies vaccine when she is between 4-6 months old. We cannot say for sure what breed mix she is, so we expect families to do their own research on her look and size and decide what breed you think she is and if you have the lifestyle suitable for her needs. TARYN and her siblings have very strong personalities and are extremely confident. Due to the breed confidence we are only going to be accepting applications from people or families that have experience with the cattle dog type breed. Families must be extremely active and have the time to work with a puppy and understand and be able to deal with confident, fearless pups to ensure they grow into well behaved, good natured adults. TARYN is a PUPPY, a BABY, she is going to be a lot of work, people tend to forget how much work puppies can be, so make sure you do your research or seriously consider if you have the time and patience for a crazy, high energy puppy. She is going to need house training, leash training, obedience training, learning all rules of the house, learning who his new family is. She is going to be chewing on anything she can get her mouth around. She will most likely cry or whine as she is used to being with all her siblings, her mum and all the dogs in the rescue. PUPPIES ARE A LOT OF WORK. TARYN is a very happy puppy, her personality is developing and so will grow into how you treat her, train her, socialize him and expose her to many different environments, people and situations. She is mouthy and has sharp teeth as all puppies do so take into consideration if you have small children. TARYN is going to be a medium, high energy dog and so we are only accepting applications that has and will have the lifestyle that will be most beneficial to her needs, now and over the next 10+ years. More pictures and possible video's can be found on her page on the rescue website. You MUST understand that dogs need time to decompress and adapt to their new environment and home. It is a HUGE transition they make from the kill shelter, being vetted, on transport for 3 days and arriving in Maine where the temperature and such is very different to what they have only known. In rescue there is what is known as the '3 Point Rule' Days 1-3 your dog is stressed, anxious, confused as to where they are now. Weeks 1-3 your dog is adjusting, settling in, learning things. At the 3 month point, your dog understands they are home, and have built up a trusting relationship where they feel loved and secure. The rescue buys food in bulk, by the truck load and there are a variety of brands and flavours. None of the food given is less than a 4* food rating in accordance with dogfoodadvisor.com. There have not been issues with eating any of the varying foods. It is important that you do your research on the ingredients and speak to your vet or a nutritionist on grain vs grain free! This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas, or other locations, countries to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food, general day to day cost of running a brick and mortar rescue and anything else that is needed. Canadian families must confirm with the border that they are able to cross and have the required vaccines, documentation and anything else needed to enter the US. Also it is important to know that Canadian Customs charge 15% taxes on the adoption when you return into Canada. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the ADOPTION INFO tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 1-2 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then we can schedule your appointment to come to the rescue for meet/greet/adopt Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. https://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org/forms/form?formid=5838 ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE.
