*** BREED EXPERIENCED ADOPTERS ONLY, PLEASE *** Handsome, silly, affectionate and fluffy 'Muffin Man' is a 1.5-2 yr old, 80-85 lb. Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix male we rescued from a dog pound. Muffin Man had spent the 1st year to year and a half of his life tied to a tree where he received little or no socialization with either person or other animals. He was also physically neglected, weighing only 65 lbs when we rescued him. Muffin Man has been flourishing in rescue: gaining weight, learning to trust and love, loving having toys, which he tosses in the air and catches, and being able to be a pup again, robustly playing with canine friends (his bestie in rescue is 'Jack'). Muffin Man can be slow to warm to new people, but once he does, he loves with all his heart; deeply and fervently. He is a naive 'innocent' in personality, and a big cuddle bug. Given a chance, he will steel your chair and be delighted with himself for doing it. He also loves to sit by you and lay next to where you are; happy, comfortable, content. He is a taller boy and has been doing well with leash training, orienting strongly to his handler. By nature he is very eager to please and loves compliments. (Tell him he's 'a good boy' and he nearly melts with joy). An patient, confident, gentle, calm home life would be ideal for him with a active owner who understands these breeds and their needs. No 'alpha type' training emphasis! Older children (teenage years) would be best. Muffin Man needs the companionship of other dogs, so a slightly older, good natured, easy going play mate who can handle his physicality in play would be needed, as Muffin Man can get bouncy, and engages in mouth play, and doesn't realize his own strength (there is absolutely no malice in his canine interaction, but it could be misinterpreted by a dog with a different play style). Muffin Man is neutered, fully vaccinated, de-wormed, on monthly heart-worm preventative, crate-trained and house-trained. This rescue does not do it's own 'shots' ... all medical care is done by a licensed, certified Veterinarian or done under their direct supervision (ex., monthly heartworm treatments &/or deworming). All of our rescued dogs have been on a nutritional regime which includes high quality food and supplements (ex., probiotics; vitamins, etc). This is done to bolster their immune systems and overall health; the result benefits their adoptive family with a pooch who has a lustrous coat, bright shiny eyes, and happy and healthy disposition.
