About Monty

Bulldog
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Hello hoomans. Monty here. I need a home and a couch. You won't find a better dog, so holla' back if you think you deserve me. Love, Monty xo Like Monty so humbly stated, he's looking for a new home and is a great catch. This 2-year old, 48-pound English Bulldog, who is shorter in stature than his peers, is located in Carver, MA. He's a goofy little tough guy with little man syndrome and warms up to women much faster than men. He loves companionship and needs someone who stays home a lot or works from home. Monty likes to play with indoor toys and play tug-of-war. He takes naps in between short bursts of energy. He does tire easily but still enjoys short walks and short periods of play. Monty is the type of dog who becomes very attached to his person. He will be your shadow by following you everywhere and laying at your feet. At night, and when left alone, he uses his crate. He is house-trained and knows a few cues: Sit, Paw, Lay down, Stay, and No. His smarts don't stop there. He uses his charm when being naughty because he knows his smooshy face and dopey smile are irresistible. As far as traveling goes, he gets a B (he whines sometimes). Monty is low maintenance for exercise, but has an undetermined allergy that causes a hives-like rash. When he has a flare up, prescription meds and baths with medicated shampoo relieves the rash. To provide objective information about his temperament, Monty underwent a behavior evaluation by ARK friend and trainer Maura (http://clearskiesdogtraining.weebly.com) who reported that 'Monty is very friendly, very well-trained; he's amenable, he listens...he's just a really good dog who did great on his evaluation.' Geez Maura, it's not like his head was big enough! Even though he's mild-mannered, she recommends trading up if he has something in his mouth you need to remove. Though a lovebug with big people, Monty needs a new home because he is impatient with young children. They are unpredictable and loud. Though not aggressive, he once bit a toddler who he lives with and it resulted in six stitches. A new place without the excitement of little ones is a better fit. It's not an easy decision to rehome Monty because he is very loved. Monty is well cared for. He's up-to-date on shots and heartworm/ flea/tick preventives, and neutered. Monty is more of a ladies' man for both people and dogs. He is hesitant with strangers, especially men; however, he quickly gets over this nervousness and takes treats from new people. As a puppy, he attended basic obedience training, but we want his new owner to take a refresher course with him. He is very attached to his current owner, so some training will ease such a major change in his life. It's a great way to form a loving bond and healthy relationship. NEEDS: Monty is hoping for a woman to be a major part of his life. He needs an experienced dog owner and some training. A yard that's fenced is highly preferred. Any kids must be 13+. He MAY do well with a female dog sibling of similar stature. No cats or small kids. So whaddya say? Could this beefy lowrider be your next buddy?
