About Summer and Dale

GetALong Dachshund Rescue introduces fabulous seniors, Summer and Dale. Summer and Dale are a bonded pair looking for love! Dale is 12 pounds and we think he is about 14 years old. Summer is a 15 pounds, and she is about 11 years old. They have been working on loosing a few pounds in their foster home. Dale is the most loving boy. He loves to sit on your lap and nose bump you for loves and cuddles. Dale loves to be outside do a fence patrol. Dale does not have any teeth left and he needs soft food because of this. Dale- 13.8 lbs. (he's lost over two pounds) He's a sweet heart. When Dale came into our rescue he had a broken jaw, but it has healed well under our vets care and with the help of his wonderful foster family in Alabama. Dale has a charming crooked 'smile' with his crooked jaw. Dale LOVES his blankets and will want to have lots to cuddle and snuggle in. Dale likes to retire early for the evening and puts himself to bed every night about 7:00 pm. Summer loves toys! Her favorites are stuffies with squeakers. She does not tear them up but treats them like her babies and carries them around everywhere she goes and squeaks them. Summer has a crooked bottom canine that often causes her lip to catch on it and gives her a crooked little smile. She loves to be held and get a belly rub and lay on the couch beside you. Summer is a little less active but just as sweet as Dale and likes to get in your lap. She is more reserved than Dale. Summer and Dale are very bonded and always want to be together. They love to do everything together! They want to walk together and drink and eat together. Summer is very protective of Dale. Summer and Dale are crate trained and continue to work on their house training with their foster family. Like all dogs, they will need to be confident in their environment to have good potty habits. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience is important. Summer and Dale need consistency and reminding to continue their house training. Summer and Dale do well with other dogs but have not been cat tested. We believe they would be fine with respectful children over the age of 9 years. This wonderful pair are leash trained and love to put on their harnesses and go for a walk. They enjoy a car ride, but the best thing of all is being with their people.
