About Max

Lab mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Hello, my name is Max. I am a six year-old dog looking for a new family to love. I'm a country boy at heart--in a Huckleberry Finn sorta way--and grew up with other pups, who were mostly pits and mutts like me. They say I'm more of the ginger variety because I've got Ridgeback, Hound, and Lab in me. That being said, I can smell a huckleberry pie a mile away, and guard property better than a llama on a cattle ranch. But that's only when I'm awake. You see, I have a special talent that I learned on the job: sleeping. I'm an expert napper because the cats I grew up with needed a sleeping companion. I spent most of the day doing just that and really enjoyed that part of the job. I love my humans dearly--they are just precious. My new foster mom loves me so much that I make sure to love her back just as hard. Did I mention how strong she is? We do a walk around the neighborhood every morning and whenever I see a squirrel or another dog she won't let me get it. She can wrangle that leash when I jump around and always settles me down with hugs and encouragement. I think she just doesn't realize I'm protecting her! So, I pull on the leash most of the time, unless of course she takes me the long route and tuckers me out. Then I like to stroll and smell everything interesting that comes within sniffing distance. I love the yard here, but I kind of go cuckoo when I see other dogs through the chain link fence. This is my only downfall, but there's a hack for that! A privacy fence, the kind I can't see through or see over will help keep my wits about me. My foster home is pretty nice. The cat is old and senile, but man, she is cute. I have to be extra gentle with her because she's frail, so I always let her drink and splash in my water bowl when she's having a senior moment. I make sure to say good morning to her every day. The cat and I like to sit near the window and look out. This neighborhood is full of dogs. I talk to them through the window, but they never talk back. I either whine because I think they're cute, or I'll growl and snort. It depends on the dog! There are lots of little humans on the street, too. They don't seem to understand my language and they seem to want to play, but I'm not allowed to play my way! I get really frustrated about that. So, I've never actually come in contact with a child so if you have two-legged kids, make sure they were born before 2010. My favorite toys are the cat's toys. I like to throw them up in the air and pretend they're jumping up so I can grab them. Tennis balls don't interest me too much, but my foster mom taught me a game and if I bring the ball back to her I get kisses and hugs and treats. Otherwise, I enjoy antlers and the occasional bully sticks to chew. There's nothing like it! I hope there's a family out there for me who likes drive-by hugs and enthusiastic head-tilts. I just want a forever home where I can cozy up on the couch with my humans at the end of the day. Is that you? Are you out there? Hopefully yours, Max Please apply here: https://tiny.cc/ARK-Application #ARKforMax #JustSaveThem
