About AXEL

AXEL (#A1993571) excels in sweetness! He entered the East Valley Animal Shelter, Van Nuys, CA, as a 'stray' some time in August and was immediately groomed because he was a filthy mess. A handsome 8-year-old emerged. AXEL was adopted by a person who was ill-equipped to handle such a big dog, but she could not be deterred to look at smaller dogs, because she had big dogs 20 years ago. The day after AXEL was picked up, following neuter surgery, the adopter returned him to East Valley claiming he was too 'hyper' for her to handle with a bad shoulder. Unfortunately, AXEL has developed a head tilt, which the shelter vet will, hopefully, be able to treat, depending on the cause. The tilt isn't preventing him from enjoying exploring the play yard and sitting for treats. It would be so great if AXEL were able to enjoy a quieter environment in a loving home. Sharing him, far and wide, might get him the attention he needs to be adopted/rescued. The shelter is open Tuesday-Friday by appointment only; it's open for walk-ins 11-5 Saturday and Sunday.
