About Zippy (aka Riptide)

Zippy (aka Riptide) is the name and action is his game! He's a one-year-old, 27-lb cattle dog mix currently being fostered in Bradenton, FL. He is a very active dog. He is cautious around other dogs until he gets to know them, he is also cautious around people. It doesnt take him long to warm up, and food is your best friend!!. Once he feels safe he will play forever with other dogs. Zip needs a lot of socializaton. He needs someone to be patient with him while he adjusts to new people, new schedules and new environments. He does show signs of reactivity in new social situations and we have been working to desensitize him. He is a great candidate for a reactivity class . If you have an active, playful dog who is confident but NOT bossy, Zip will have a best friend. Zippy loves toys, balls, mud, water, and dirt! This dog is very smart and learns fast. we have found him to be reactive in a class situation to both dogs and people He needs more time to learn to relax and enjoy the big world. In time, He would excel at agility, disc, fly ball, scent work, lure coursing, dock diving, or as a running partner or active hiking partner. He is house- and crate-trained (although he doesn't care for being crated). Zippy is up-to-date on shots, heartworm free, micro-chipped and recently neutered. He will need a home with a fenced-in yard and no children.More importantly he will need a take charge dog savvy handler, who can continue him in classes for reactive dogs.
