About Hunter

When you hear it asked, 'Who's a good boy?' They're talking about Hunter. Hunter had a family once. When they fell on hard times they gave him away in a gas station parking lot. He was depressed for a long time. He really misses having a family and hops to have another one soon. His last family let him get Heartworms and unfortunately, the fast kill treatment made him so sick it had to be stopped. Hunter needs to remain on the slow-kill method for a year or two until the worms die off because he's not strong enough to endure the shots that kill them faster. His heart is damaged but he still loves like it isn't. He's not on any medications other than his monthly Heartguard but is on a special food for cardiac support. Hunter is guessed to be about 6 or 7 years old. He weighs 38 chunky pounds and is vaccinated, chipped, and neutered. Hunter LOVES kids, gets along great with other dogs, and will even cuddle with the cat. He LOVES to go for rides and is very well-mannered in public. Hunter walks well on a leash and greets strangers happily. He's been enjoying frequent trips to the hardware store and the bank with our Den Dad and is always up for an adventure. He is totally housebroken and super smart. When he was going through treatment for heartworms, it made him sick. When he couldn't go outside to pee at night, he went in the bathroom and used the cat's litter box and then learned to use potty pads we'd left out for him. The only mess Hunter has ever made has been when unstuffing the stuffed toys we got for him. Other than that, he's never torn up anything that wasn't his. He's super sweet and even lets the little dog take his toys and treats sometimes. He's a cuddly boy who will warm your bed in the winter and make you smile with his playful antics. He LOVES to play fetch and tug but is just as happy with a belly-rubbing Netflix binge day.
