About Pansy

Introducing Pansy! She is a 6 year old, 9.1 pound Yorkie who was surrendered to us. Pansy has not had the easiest life and was pretty sick when she came in, so it took a little bit for her true personality to emerge! Now that she's feeling better she has turned into a very sweet playful little girl! She seems grateful to have been rescued, and follows her foster mom everywhere. She will lick your hand and wag her little tail like crazy to greet you. She stands on her hind legs and dances when she is excited for treats. Pansy may be timid when she first meets you, but when she gets used to her people she will lie on her back for tummy rubs and lie on your lap if you pick her up. She loves to nap on the sofa with a blanket and she comes to her foster mom when she bends down and calls her. She prefers to sleep in the big bed at night, and will also sleep on a doggy bed in the bedroom. Pansy gets along great with other dogs but can be lap protective with her human. She only growls slightly, and is not overly aggressive. This is easily solved by just putting her off your lap so she learns there is no reward for her behavior! Other than the lap, she is perfectly fine and enjoys the company of other dogs and would probably be best in a home with another dog or two to snuggle and play with. She runs and plays with the dogs in her foster home and sleeps near them and eats with them. Pansy has not been around cats since we have had her and a home with children would make her very anxious. Her best fit will be a calm, quiet home with a gentle, attentive owner and another small dog for a companion. Pansy did not seem to know what grass was and was afraid outside at first. Now she runs and hops in the yard and loves to be with her foster family outside playing with the other dogs. She is still learning about toys and it is a joy to watch her figure out how to play! Pansy is not leash trained or fully house trained, but she is working on it and is improving. She rides well in the car in her car seat, just lies right down and goes to sleep. She is ready for someone to love her and help her continue to learn how to be a pet! She has been to the vet for wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration.
