About Bruce

Adoption Fee: $25
Maltese / Yorkie
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

Bruce is a 10 year old Maltese/Yorkie. He's a good dog that likes his chill time. Our adult kids all got their own dogs and when they come over to visit, which is quite often, it stresses Bruce out and he gets a bit 'grumpy.' He never bites or anything, but for his size, he has a pretty ferocious growl that he uses to try to scare the other dogs away with. He is the reason for the all bark - no bite phrase. Also, he has been marking 'his' territory all over our house because of these other dogs. Bruce is current on all his vaccinations, but as for health issues'|he has bad dental health. His growl makes it very difficult to clean his teeth. He has horrible breath and has lost a few teeth to decay. He also has a sublaxation of the patella. This doesn't bother him, but it causes him to have a cute little skip in his step when he walks fast or runs. So long walks aren't ideal for him. He was also diagnosed this year with a collapsed trachea. It caused him to cough a lot, but the vet prescribed some steroids that helped a lot, and now we can keep it at bay with an inexpensive medicine when needed. Bruce really is a good little dog. He loves his alone time from other high energy dogs. He loves our older very mellow dog, but his ideal situation would be to lounge around all day on a nice soft pillow, get a little loving while binging Netflix and maybe play tug of war for a few minutes over a stuffed animal. Other than the territory marking that only started with the arrival of the other dogs, he's not destructive at all. Just likes to lay around. He's also a great alarm dog. Our older dog and I are a little less than peak with our hearing, so Bruce is very good at giving us a quick few barks if ever he hears the front door open or someone knock. If he keeps going, he's good about stopping when we call out his name. He's not an incessant barker, nor does he bark for no reason. His barks always have a purpose - at least to him!
