About Top

[Read About Natural Cancer Care] Top is a stray that lives under a bridge at the border of US/MEX. He appeared about 5 months ago, and has been our adopted worksite dog. He takes shelter in our air conditioned tents, free to come and go as he likes. He is provided food/water, and all the affection from Officers and volunteers. I took Top to the Vet on 9/8/21, after noticing he was bleeding/dripping blood from his penis. They conducted a biopsy and bloodwork, and kept him overnight. I picked him up in the morning & was given a 2 week supply of antibiotics. He was diagnosed with possible TVT, in which he needs chemotherapy for treatment. His blood platelets is only at 30% right now, hopefully the antibiotics are helping. As of this post, i am taking Top back to the vet today to check on his blood levels. i am leaving this location in 2 weeks, set to return home. Top needs further medical attention and a place to recover during the treatments, as well as a forvever home. He loves being around the worksite, as he is pampered with love, food, and shelter. However, if he is going to receive chemo, this environment is not ideal for recovery. Also, when i leave, someone has to be here to take him (and pay for) his treatments. While lots of officers here care for Top, and say that donations will be accepted to help pay for treatments, i just feel that Top needs the full attention that a rescue can provide. He is such a domestic dog by now, actually he's quite spoiled for a stray dog. He shows affection, loves belly rubs, and is just an overall sweet dog that deserves a forever home. I would take him home with me but i fear that he needs to be healthier before traveling. I've never contacted a rescue before, i hope someone out there can continue helping me with this sweet dog...
