Name: IRIS Age:%A0 %A0Approximately 15 months old Breed: Border Collie Sex:%A0 38# Female (spayed) Location:%A0Tarrant County, Tx Vet Information: UTD on vaccinations. No HW test noted. Vet notes Bilateral mild conjunctivitis and Bilateral mydriasis. Base wide stance on both front and back end when walking or standing, very uncoordinated movements. Owner report: Iris was rescued from a high kill shelter. She is in temporary foster until a permanent home can be found. Her current care taker already has 5 dogs and can not keep Iris. Iris is described as an indoor dog with the run of the house. She is house broken and but not leash trained. Caretaker reports Iris 'learned the layout of our house fairly quickly.' Iris is said to be nervous and shy. She is good with other dogs and currently resides with 5 other dogs. Iris is said to be good around adults. Her current home does not have young children in it, so it is not known how she is with children as she has not been around them. According to caretaker: 'She (Iris) loves the petting and rubs that we give her, she craves it. She has been great with our 5 dogs even though is a little afraid or unsure of them which I think is related to her vision. She loves being inside more than out. I think she feels safer inside. Now that we know of her issue we are trying to help her with walking on a lead when we take her outside by keeping the slack short so that she is walking next to us instead of in front crisscrossing because she doesn't know where she's going. I am researching how I can start with a little training for blind dogs to help her until her forever family is found.' Can anyone help Iris? **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
