Courtesy Posting PLEASE HELP US SAVE YOUNG LEO THE CHOW WHO IS RESCUE ONLY IN THE SAN DIEGO SHELTER. NEEDS RESCUE/FOSTER/PLEDGES TO SAVE HIS LIFE!! LEO - ID #758900 San Diego Humane Society, San Diego, So Cal At risk to be euthanized anytime. 1 year old scared purebred chow Leo in San Diego shelter. Needs chow savvy Foster and Rescue to save him, as well as pledges for medical and care. Poor young, stunning Leo was dumped by his family at the San Diego shelter due to alleged allergies to him. It looks like his family never ever gave him a bath or brushed him though. Leo came in scared with a slight limp, possibly from his magnificent long fur being matted and stuck and making it more difficult to walk. The shelter describes him a gentle ball of fluff who is very shy, and he doesn't show signs of aggression. However, he unfortunately got scared and snapped at a staff member as they tried to muzzle him to examine him as this scared him further. He may also be in pain, it's unclear but he's not eating much but is overweight. But sadly, the shelter walked him straight into the quarantine area where he received no treatment and has shut down further. His 10 day quarantine just ended. Leo is still not showing signs of aggression, he is just laying down mostly in his kennel scared as people approach his kennel, not wanting to eat much. We are now looking for a chow savvy and patient foster (or foster to adopt), as well as rescue, to save him before he is euthanized. A rescue would provide medical care. Leo is said to be only 1 year, 10 months, but weighed 76 lbs when he came in, but has likely lost some weight from not eating much, perhaps partly from depression. If you can possibly help to foster (Foster must be local to a rescue in a position to help), or you can pledge towards his rescue, please contact [email protected] asap or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to assist with his placement. Rescues should also contact the shelter directly and ask for ID 758900. We also have more pictures, videos and any updates to share which will be posted on his Facebook page at:https://www.facebook.com/1968091010140112/posts/3127865680829300/?d=n
