About KIKI

***NEEDS FUREVER HOME*** Currently in Rexburg 2.5 year old KIKI was an owner surrender to the rescue because she was pregnant. She had her 13 healthy puppies in a foster home on August 2, 2021. Coming from a background of neglect, KIKIwas scared and untrusting; it has taken her a lot of time and work to realize that humans can be relied upon for love, soft words, and ear scratches. Although she has made tremendous progress, KIKI's future family will need to give her the time and space to truly trust them. They must be willing to move slowly with her and have patience if she doesn't warm up right away. A family knowledgeable in the breed and/or traumatized dogs would be a great fit for KIKI's needs. Typical of the Idaho Shag breed, KIKI is incredibly smart! Training will be essential to her being happy and healthy. If she's left alone, she gets lonely and bored and may hatch up escape plans-so keep her busy! She would make a great hiking partner or agility dog. A home without cats is best (she will chase if they run), and she may try to herd small children. KIKI wants nothing more than to spend time with her special person. Even if she's just 'supervising' the daily chores around the house, she really is happiest with a human who is busy and will include her in whatever they are doing. She does well with other dogs, enjoys being outside, and loves being told she's a good girl. Once you earn this resilient girl's heart, it will be yours forever! KIKI is house trained and is working on overcoming her distaste for leashes.
