Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email [email protected]. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about an hour of Wilmington, DE in order for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in person home visit. Meet Tippy! This senior gal is estimated to be about 12 years old and found herself at the shelter after her owner was incarcerated. Our best guess is that she is a mix of Lab, Bassett and Beagle with the best attributes of each breed! She looks bigger than she actually is, only weighing in at about 25 lbs. Tippy is friendly with her foster's big dogs, small dogs, and cats. She attaches quickly to 'her person' and will want to be wherever you are! She still enjoys a lively walk and a bit of playtime, but snuggles in closely for a nap or at bedtime. She loves to sleep under the covers next to you. Tippy has a great appetite and isn't at all picky about her food. Tippy is anxious when you leave the house (gives a good howl), but is not destructive and can be given free roam of the house. She will eventually settle into a nice couch nap while you're out. Tippy is a vocal gal and will let you know if she needs something whether it be attention, breakfast, or a trip outside to relieve herself. She will also howl excitedly when she meets someone new or if you come home after a long (or short!) time away. There isn't anyone who will be more excited to see you. She will settle down in a few minutes. We think losing her owner has definitely made her want to be attached to her person's hip at all times. We think her ideal adopter would be one that is home more often than not. Tippy takes Trazodone for anxiety. She takes her pill easily - you can just put it right on top of her food. The monthly cost of her medication is about $10. She is used to getting outside about every 6 hours to go to the bathroom, and is housebroken on a schedule, but she will have an occasional accident. She sleeps soundly overnight. She loves car rides but thinks she should be able to ride in your lap! This super fun gal would love to find a forever home of her own! She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and just had a much needed dental. Please consider this lovely sleek girl as your new best friend! She is a very sweet dog and just needs someone to be patient with her and nice to her. She will repay your love exponentially.
