About Gabe

Meet Gabe, is a 5 year old, 14lb Yorkie boy being fostered in Austin, TX. Only Texas applicants will be considered. This sweetheart came into foster when his owner passed away last month. He and his owner were housing insecure for several years and lived amongst the Austin homeless community at times. However, he had the most amazing family of love. But despite that he was well loved, and he worked as an emotional support dog for his owner, his daily living has caused some medical issues over the years. Poor Gabe is dealing with several health issues. He came in with an eye ulcer, a skin infection, and hair loss due to a thyroid imbalance. Usually thyroid issues can be recovered if addressed in time, and if not he will need an inexpensive medication daily for that. The thyroid issue and the flea issue along with lack of bathing has left his hair thin on his back, His hair should come back nicely as he receives all of the above care. He has an appointment at the end of the month to check his thyroid levels. He used to have a nice full coat when talking with a past acquaintance,but even with thinner hair on his body he's a super handsome little man! His eye ulcer and skin infection are healing nicely. He is currently on eye drops and antibiotics for a few more weeks to help with that. Once he's back to full health again we'll schedule his dental. He loves snuggling at bedtime and going for walks outside. He's housetrained and enjoys playing with squeaky and crinkly toys. Nothing makes his tail wag faster than meeting the neighbor dogs on walks. He is full of love, love for others...dogs, people of all kinds and will be an amazing addition to someone's home and heart. This precious little boy is enjoying his best life and is looking for his furever to continue that.
