About Bambi

Meet Bambi!! If you are looking for an adorable doe eyed girl who makes you think about Bambi every time you look at her then we have your gal! She is sweet, loving, gives lots of kisses and wags her tail all the time! At only 9 months old she has not had the greatest start in life. The previous owner had the Mom and said she got pregnant by accident and kept Bambi and her sister who has already been adopted. We were told the Mom was a Chihuahua/Terrier/Cairn mix and they had no idea who the Dad was. Both Bambi and her sister Cookie, never saw anyone else but the two women who owned them and spent the majority of their time in the backyard. They never received vaccines, spays or medical care until they came into rescue. When Bambi first came into rescue she was very shy. She tends to warm up to all women very, very fast and will literally love her new human in about 60 seconds. She takes a minute with men but she does warm up and become loving. Now that her sister has been adopted Bambi is showing her true self too! She aLOVES toys and loves to run onto the bed and do zoomies and spin around! Her best friend is another rescue dog we have named Stanley who happens to be the same age as her. (He is listed separately). If someone wanted to adopt them together they really like each other but are fine being adopted separately. Bambi is very affectionate, loves to give kisses and when sleeping in bed is happy to have even her head resting on your arm. The ideal home for Bambi would be one in which she gets play time and socialization. She would be fine with children. She is well behaved, not destructive and does learn quickly. She gets along great with her foster Mom's other dogs (including 3 German Shepherds that she was initially afraid of) as well as the cats so she is fine to live in a multi-pet household. We do not think she would be well suited for apartment life. Her adoption fee includes the following: 1. Spay 2. Current vaccinations including rabies 3. Deworming 4. Microchip 5. Grooming 6. Starter food 7. Harness and leash An adoption fee does apply. If you do not currently have a pet how you will keep Bambi socialized with other dogs Some notes to consider before applying for Bambi 1. Bambi is still a puppy. As such and due to the fact that she was just left alone in a yard much of her young life she will require ongoing training and socialization so that she becomes the best canine citizen that she can be. 2. Please make sure you are ready to adopt before coming to see our adoptable dogs. We are a foster based rescue and do not have the space to hold dogs for a couple of weeks while you vacation or make your way to California to come and adopt. We will adopt out of state but ONLY if the potential adopter comes here to adopt in person and that is after a screening by Skype. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS EVER so do not ask. 3. We are often inundated with emails about our adoptable dogs and try as we might to make everyone happy it is nearly impossible with only one dog and sometimes up to 50 potential families. The more information you provide in your email to us the quicker we will get back to you. If you have written to us before about a particular dog and did not receive a response please do try again. We try to answer every email but it is not always possible. Every dog has different home requirements that we search for so sometimes you are the right fit for the dog we are trying to place. 4. PLEASE do NOT send more than one email. It slows down the process. 5. There is no further information to share about Cookie nor is there an application. Please do not send an email asking for further information or not answer the above listed questions. That is part of our pre-screening process and is required of any potential adopter.
