About Gustave

Adoption Fee: $250
Alaskan Malamute
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Gustave was pulled from the South LA Shelter during the Woolsey fires to make room for incoming animals needing to be evacuated. He was the saddest dog there, in horrible shape with chronic skin infections, anal tumors and mystery wounds. The staff called him Ghost dog. His time was up. It has been a long journey of getting strong, healthy and learning to be a dog, but Gustave has become the floofiest Husky you'll ever meet. Due to the terrible condition Gustave was found in at the shelter when he was first pulled, he requires a special diet - and mostly fresh or raw would be best and will need monthly, medicated baths for his skin. He is incredibly smart and needs a home with a dedicated, savvy person/people who are looking for a floofy couch potato that loves nothing more in life than to chill. Gustave would do best being an only dog or in a home with other calm, adult, large breed dogs. Gustave had a scare a few months back with a thyroid that was enlarged. He went to see a specialist where they confirmed it was cancer and he had Hyperparathyroidism. Gustave had 2 rounds of chemotherapy and has kicked cancer's butt to the curb and is doing MUCH better! Gustave will need to see his specialist every few months for follow up visits to ensure he remains cancer free! Gustave is an excellent walker. He enjoys the shorter distance walks but not in duration. He has a limp from a previous injury before his time with us that is not painful to him but will always be there! Gustave is a good boy when left alone, is quiet and house trained. He is super affectionate and loyal to anyone he knows. If you see me online I am still available for adoption! If you are interested in adopting me please fill out an application here: www.hitlivingfoundation.org/adoption-application, and email a video walkthrough of your home and yard to [email protected]. Your application will not be counted as valid without your video. You will hear back from us within a few days.
