About Keiko

Keiko is a sweet and beautiful 10-year-old brown-rosetted female that is looking for her forever home as an ONLY cat. Keiko was a rescue that had previously lived in a home where she was neglected. She still seems to have some PTSD and will run and hide upon the arrival of new people, or when loud noises occur. Despite being nervous in these situations, surprisingly - she does recover quite quickly from the intrusion and will come back out to inspect! She loves her Yeowww!!! Banana toy, and really enjoys playing with various wands and toys. Once she's tuckered out, she loves to crawl under the covers for her afternoon nap. Keiko loves to lay against her human for pets and belly rubs, and Zoomies are an every night event! She's got a ton of energy, and so much love to give. Keiko has lived in her current home for a year and has really improved with love, kindness and yummy food. In her current home, Keiko lives with a female DSH cat and we have been working with her owner for over a YEAR to try to get these two cats to even tolerate each other, let alone co-exist peacefully! We even brought in our Cat Behaviorist - yet as much as everyone has tried, these two cats just aren't having it. For this reason she cannot be placed in a home with another cat. Keiko hasn't been around children or dogs. Given what she's already been through, we hope to find someone who leads a pretty easy-going lifestyle, that is quieter and has a lot of love to give her. Sweet Kieko does have some scars on her face due to severe reactions to food allergies (but we think that makes her even cuter!). For this reason she cannot eat kibble or inexpensive canned food. She is absolutely thriving on frozen raw and high-end canned food, and she loves to share roasted chicken or cheddar cheese with her human. Keiko loves Churo lickable treats and is clicker-trained to touch her nose to the eraser for more treats. When she was having a severe allergic food reaction, her owner eliminated all chicken and chicken by-products until her skin cleared up. Her treats do not contain any chicken product, but she can eat canned food with chicken as long as it's not chicken by-products (she gets little bumps on her head when she's had too much chicken). Keiko also enjoys Stella & Chewy's freeze-dried raw (rehydrated with hot water). Keiko has perfect little box manners, but like most Bengals, she stands while using it, so a 17' tall tote is a must. She's currently using Arm n' Hammer Slide litter. Keiko's human absolutely LOVES her, and this is a very devastating decision to have to make, in having to re-home her. The other cat was there first, and we do agree that Keiko would be much happier in a home where she has 100% free-roaming rights (currently there is a ton of separation happening, for the safety of both cats). Keiko is Spayed, Vaccinated, and Microchipped.
