About Duffy

Duffy is a 2 year old, 14.7 pound gorgeous blue and tan Chihuahua Rat Terrier mix. He is timid until he gets to know you and takes some time to trust people. As soon as he is comfortable in your home you will know it- because he breaks out his happy dance! Duffy lifts one foot up and then the other and then stands up on his back legs and paws the air begging for pets or for you to pick him up! It's so cute! He also likes to wrap his front legs around your leg and look at you adoringly. Duffy loves to sit on a lap and cuddle with someone he trusts. He will put his head on you and lean in for loving, but it does take him some time to feel comfortable enough to do that. Whoever adopts this boy needs to know that Duffy is a one person dog who does not do well with other people being around 'his' person. If you are a single and have a quiet lifestyle without visitors or family, he will be the best friend you could ever ask for, loyal and loving. Duffy shows that love by being incredibly protective of his person. He is a good boy who would be best in a quiet home. He would be fine as an only dog or with a female dog for playing and companionship. Duffy should not go to a home with kids, younger or older. He has not been around cats since he has been in rescue and we don't think a home with cats would be a good fit for him. He prefers to sleep in a doggy bed at night. Duffy loves to run and play in the yard and do zoomies. We are requiring a fenced yard for him. Duffy has been to the vet for a wellness check, is neutered, up to date on shots, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. He is heartworm positive and has been started on treatment and has had a 12 month ProHeart shot. The rescue pays for treatment and testing until he is heartworm negative. Duffy will make a great little companion for someone who wants a special dog to love!
