About Jax

Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Yo! My name is Jax. I'm about 10 months old and we think I'm a stunning mix of staffie terrier, pit, boxer, and maybe bulldog. I don't mean to brag, but, I'm quite the little gentleman. I am a pro at going potty outside every couple of hours. I have the basic commands down (sit, lay down, potty, no) and I'm practicing new ones daily. Do you have some interesting smells in and around your home, because BOY I love to smell everything. My crate is ok, but I'd rather lay right next to you and see you at all times. I ride in the car without a crate; I pick my seat and curl up for the ride (I care more about the destination than the journey). My foster sister and I love to wrestle and play, and we mostly interpret each other's play limit. Sometimes I get so excited that the zoomies hit and we bolt around the backyard! My foster sister loves baby carrots and I want to be just like her so I am starting to know what 'carrot' means (foster dad says 'carrot,' then sis and I go sit next to the fridge and wait for the orange goodness). Alright, I'm passing the mic to my foster dad: Jax is such a good boy! I expected him to be a scared timid guy, but I was very wrong. From the moment my resident female dog and I met him, he's been ready to watch and go! Although we don't know much about Jax's backstory, my guess is that he had a family and lived in a home previously. He already knows sit, lay down, doesn't jump on furniture, and he goes potty outside very easily. He has some good manners, including not jumping or licking, even if you sit next to him. He just wants to cuddle and stretch out right next to you. We're working on his separation anxiety and also stopping the excited high jump when initially seeing you after an extended time (otherwise, he won't jump on anyone). He is so happy to meet all people and his tail wags really hard (look out!). I don't think that he will ever meet a stranger because he looks at every person we see with a tail wag and puppy eyes as if he already knows them, patiently waiting for them to pet him. He's gotten along well with my playful dog. Jax tries to be a bit alpha but is understanding his place and that he is a guest to my resident dog. Untested with kids, but shows interest in them, but he is pretty strong so keep that in mind. Untested with cats, but seems to have an odd interest in prey-like animals, so I'd avoid cats, small dogs or dogs smaller than him, and other small animals. He really is a little gentleman and if he did have a family before, I'm not sure why they let him go. Yes, he does need some additional training on the separation anxiety and the excited leash biting when we initially go on our walk (and we've been practicing both while he has been here). He adjusted to our daily structured routine in about two days, and now he knows what time/signal equals what action. He does have some hops, proven by him jumping over my three foot garden fence, so he needs a home with a six foot fence and no gaps underneath. A playful doggie friend in his forever home would also be great to keep him comfortable and get some energy out.https://www.fromforgottentoforever.com/adoptionapplication/
