She was described as friendly, polite, loved playing ball, easy to leash and walk, keeps her kennel clean! Previous owners said she is goofy, outgoing and fun with adults, but also a good cuddles who likes to snuggle up on the couch!! WE CANNOT LET GWEN BE KILLED! She can be ADOPRED OR FOSTERED THROUGH RESCUE!! LOOK AT THIS PRETTY GIRL!! Gwen ACCT-A-96093 Dog - Mixed Breed (Large) Sex : Female Age : 7Y / 2M Location: Large Dog Kennel, D9 Adult-Only Home Preferred, Single Dog Home Gwen ACCT-A-96093 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to behavioral concerns. Gwen must have confirmed placement with an adopter or rescue partner by Sunday, September 5, 2021, 10am. Gwen is a senior, large female mixed breed dog who's been at the shelter since late July. Prior to surrender, Gwen lived in a home with year old twin children and two other dogs, despite being described as not good with other dogs. Gwen's family stated she had begun to show concerning behavior toward the children as well, prompting her surrender. Gwen had also been involved in several dog fights including one in which a human intervening was also bitten. Gwen does know a number of commands and walks well on leash and her family describes her as 'great with adults including with strangers. In shelter, Gwen has begun to show stress related behaviors including incessant and uninterrupted licking of her kennel bars. Intake: 7/27 Owner Surrender (Incompatible Pet) Age: 7Y Sex: Female Altered: Yes Medical observation: 8/22 (Vet Check)--Patient is presenting for reported history of blood either in stool or seen in perineal region. On visual exam, stool was normally formed with no obvious hematochezia. Dried matter observed in perineal region may be previously noted blood. Source of blood unknown at this time - via rectum from mass v. stool. Recommend starting Fortiflora and continue to monitor (hematochezia, straining). Patient remains stable with a food appetite (food bowl empty). 8/12 This dog has been observed to have shelter acquired upper respiratory infection (URI), or a 'doggy cold'. 8/8 (Vet check)--Older adult to early senior dog that has mild dental disease and bilateral otitis externa (ear infections). Otherwise healthy on exam. 7/27 (Intake exam)--BAR. Ears -red. Mouth/Teeth/Gums -tartar Behavior observation: 8/28 Per Volunteer -- Gwen was very polite and liked playing ball tonight too. Kennel was clean and she seemed like she was holding it to go out! 8/8 (Per vet)--friendly 8/3 (Per Foster Staff)--Kennel Presentation--Easy to leash/social--Jumped off of bed and came to the front of the kennel. Hesitated slightly before allowing to be leashed Leash Skills--Pulls Minimally On Leash--Walks well on leash, stops for smells and takes her time. Handleability--Loose/Allows all handling 7/27 (Per previous owner)--Friendly with adults, goofy, energetic, snuggly. Very outgoing and fun with adults. Loves to cuddle on the couch. Energetic and protective.. Gwen is great with adults and friendly with adult strangers, but has shown discomfort around young children and aggressive around animals. he has unprovoked attacked our other dog as well as a friend's dog. The friend was bit while breaking up the dog fight. Sit, stay, down, come, shake, high five. Good when on leash. Can lunge at large vehicles. - with Irina Pezzotti and 44 others.
