Elly May is a 3 to 4-year-old Redtick English Coonhound who weighs 45 pounds. She has an interesting background, having lived on the streets in a local neighborhood for years with no one able to touch or catch her. This shy girl was street smart yet so desperately wanted to be part of a family. Many people fed her and kept an eye out for her, and when she delivered puppies under some bushes, finally she was able to be caught! Elly was an attentive momma, and all her puppies are finding homes of their own, so now it's her turn! Elly is seeking a family who will be patient and understanding of her history and who will give her the time and love that she needs. Elly thrives with the support of other social, friendly dogs, and would be best with at least one other dog in the household. She loves to go walks where she can sniff and stretch her legs, but overall Elly has a very medium-low energy level. One or two walks a day and access to a securely fenced yard would work fine for her. She has recently started wagging her tail and will nose your hand when you are not looking but still has the instinct to shy away from being petted. Every day she gains confidence.
