Max is eligible for local adoption only (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest) while he waits for his heartworm treatment. Please don't let his heartworm status bother you. The rescue will cover the cost of his treatment, even after adoption. A meet and greet genius. Max loves all people including children. He knows NO stranger. He loves being with his humans. He will be happy to jump on your lap, throw up his legs, and enjoy a wonderful belly rub! Max has good leash manners and really enjoys daily walks. Max is really good with submissive dogs. He just doesn't like pups that are pushy for attention, want to play, play, play and are all 'up in his face'. He would be good with another dog in the home that has a chill personality, so if you have a dog that likes to chill, older, independent = great. He would also be fine as an only dog. 'Max-isms' Happy, Snuggler, Lap dog, Kisser/Licker, Gentle/Sweet, Social with people, Social with kids, Loves attention, Loves to get pets, Loves belly rubs, Lazy/Couch potato. Does this sound like your kind of soul mate? We also know Max can be a door dasher (and not the kind that brings food deliveries), so parents that make sure they monitor access for safety is important. Max loves food and is food motivated so ongoing training with Max should be easy and fun. An ideal home in Max's world would be, 'Have humans to love him and either animals that aren't looking for a playmate or only pet. He lives cohesively with his foster home with other dogs. He is not good with cats or other animals.' Max is already house and crate trained. Max is good in the car; however, sometimes feels a bit car sick. Likely, with more slow practice, anti-nause meds, and timing he will continue to do better on car rides. Max isn't that big and does NOT require a fence. He would need playtime and walks as an alternative. Max is a 2-year-old, 43lb male Hound mix. He is new to our rescue - we will update his bio as we learn more about this wonderful guy! As part of Max's $250 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. ive.
