About Rigby

Meet Rigbert! This gentle giant (med. size dog, 5-60 lbs) can be a little skittish and would do better with a loving mom or dad who has the time to build his confidence and reassure him when feeling anxious around loud noises. This guy can be fairly playful and will bring you his toy to play fetch, enjoys walks, loves to swim, but just as equally is content with his favorite chew toy on hand while sunbathing when the sun is shining. Rigby is very obedient and understands commands such as back up (he'll hop backwards like a bunny), stay (he'll try to cheat and inch slowly forward, lol), sit, down, and go potty (he'll jump up and down when you ask to let you know he has to use the bathroom). He has a quirky personality, can be curious but is mostly fearful, and likes to defend his owners/family so strangers that ring doorbells can make him feel on edge. His ideal owner should understand animal behavior, how to properly introduce dogs to others if they plan to have him join another family of dogs. He's breed selective and normally does well with other submissive, well trained dogs - I've found he mirrors behavior but it takes him a moment. He's been in doggy day cares with supervision in the past but we haven't done it more recently due to reduced earnings (COVID job loss). I hate to give him up as he's a great dog and I've never given a dog up before but I barely was able to obtain a new job which will require travel 75% of the time; it wouldn't be fair for me to continually change his environment as this is his 3rd home. I'd ideally like to give him to a caring owner that can spoil him with attention. His current living situation is not ideal as he's crated frequently. As far as other dogs are concerned and his current living environment - he lives alongside a baby bully neutered female. He does great with her and enjoys play time, and even when she's being too much he just walks away and avoids her even when she's continually nipping and biting him. He allows her to climb into the crate with him when they're both calm and they enjoy curling up next to each other. Patience is key with this handsome fella but I guarantee you his charming personality is sure to win you over.
