Foster location: Boise, ID Breed: Miniature Dachshund Age: 4 years Adoption Fee: $200.00 Neutered, Vaccinated, Microchipped If interested you must fill out an Adoption Application: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ Little Apollo came to Fuzzy Pawz when his owner could no longer care for this gorgeous little guy. Apollo had a back injury in March and has lost the use of his back legs; he is not in any pain and does GREAT in his wheeled cart and in a drag bag. Not having the use of his back legs has not slowed him down! He can beat his foster mom to the door when a package is delivered and tries to keep up with the other dogs in the foster home. He gets along with the other dogs in his foster home and loves playing with toys but can be a little protective of his toys and he is hilarious about wanting to play in sprinklers and water from a hose. Apollo shows aggression towards cats when he comes across one on walks in the neighborhood; so, we are going to say no cats please. His foster dad takes him for bikes rides in the basket of his bike and Apollo enjoys seeing the neighborhood and getting some fresh air this way. A wagon or stroller would probably make a great outing for him as well. He is great in his wheels and keeps up a pretty good pace when going for his daily exercise and this expends some of his energy, so he is not as active during the rest of the day and takes some long naps afterwards. Apollo likes to keep his foster mom in his sight but once he feels secure in his new forever home, he will not feel the need to keep his human in sight all the time. His favorite pastime is couch time with the humans. He would prefer his someone be home more often than not - he would not do well in a home where his humans are gone all day. Due to his paralysis, he has some incontinence and belly bands, or dog diapers are recommended when inside as well as regular trips outside. He does appear to have some sensation of when he needs to go so learning his signs will help with this also as well as expressing his bladder before bringing him inside (super simple). Extra care will be needed to keep him clean and the use of a diaper rash cream etc. to prevent a rash due to the use of the belly bands. He did have a bad bladder infection when he first came to Fuzzy Pawz and again this could be a concern in the future as he might have recurring infections due to his incontinence and the use of belly bands etc. This little man has a lot of love to give to someone and is such an inspiration to watch.
