Adoption Fee: $150
German Shepherd mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

NAME: SAORON FOSTER : A.H. BIO: Saoron (pronounced SIGH-ren) is an approximately 8 to 14 month old black german shepherd mix. She is an absolutely stunning girl with a long, shiny, raven colored coat that requires regular brushing. She's got gorgeous caramel colored eyes and ears so tall that they flatten at the tips when she rides in a car (that is, unless, she's sticking her head out the window - one of her favorite activities!) Saoron was most likely abandoned along the highway no later than eight weeks prior to finding Mercy Fund. Though her body was emaciated, she was friendly towards rescue staff and eventually allowed them to help. We suspect that she has lived a rough life up to this point. She was so hungry the first night that she arrived that she actually ate a sheet of paper. True to her name, Saoron (our own personal fire siren) is a vocal girl. She loves to 'chat' with her foster parents and will often greet people with a friendly bark. She uses those pipes on occasion to howl, bark for attention, or whine, but her foster parents are teaching her better manners. But who can blame a wolf for howling at the moon every once in a while? Found on the cusp of the Buck moon, her fosters feel that she is a good omen. Her sweet and gentle nature around people certainly lends to that idea. Though she's far from shy, Saoron has a timid streak. She displays some food insecurity and even food aggression; As of now, she does show some aggression towards other dogs and cats. She will bark and whimper at other dogs, but has not lunged towards them in an aggressive way. We recognize that this aggression is fear based and have been working with her daily to increase her confidence. These negative behaviors have been reduced by regular socialization training and frequent exposure to other animals. Her foster parents hope that this continued exposure and positive reinforcement will help Saoron acclimate to other animals. First, she simply needs a great deal of TLC.
