About Sadie

Adoption Fee: $20
Foxhound
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

My husband and I rescued Sadie from Wake county SPCA in 2018. She got along very well with our other hound mix and was a great addition to our family. She was about 5 at the time. The SPCA said that she had recently had puppies and may have been part of a puppy mill or used for hunting/breeding. She came home with us, we fell in love, and all was well. She didn't need to be crated at all. During Covid, both my husband and I stayed home. When we went back to work, Sadie began to struggle with separation anxiety. She got into the trash several times and was eating things she shouldn't. We began creating her and that worked well, for months. Then, she broke out of her crate. She literally broke the welding on the crate. This happened while we were at work. I am a teacher and my husband works in an office, staying home is not an option. Sadie would be so much happier if she was in a home with someone who works from home or is retired. If you left for a few hours, she is fine if she's crated, but she doesn't do well with being left for 8-9 hours as she currently is. The hardest part is, she is the absolute sweetest girl! She is so happy when we come home, and it was like that from day 1. She loves everyone! She loves kids and adults. Anyone who will pet her! She loves car rides, and she enjoys laying in the sun at the park. We want her to be happy and not struggle with the anxiety of being left alone all day. And yes, we've tried anxiety medications and they don't work very well. They just knock her out snd we don't want her to have to live like that. Her only health issue is that she is on a thyroid medication. She takes one pill a day, and a bottle of 90 pills is only $15 on pet meds, so it is very affordable. Also, her bottom front teeth are worn down but they were like that when we got her and it's never been an issue. Our vet has assessed them and said they don't bother her. I hope we can find a loving home for her. I promise, she would be your friend for life. Please only consider her if you are working from home or retired. She is very low activity and would really be perfect for any home who has time for her.
